  • Project: Pharr Natatorium, City of Pharr / PSJA, University of Texas RGV.

    Accolade: Largest indoor diving pool in South Texas.

    In March 2023, Solorio Inc. received the ASCE/TSPE AGC Award for the completion of the Pharr Natatorium project. Located in the City of Pharr, in partnership with PSJA and the University of Texas RGV, this project is notable for having the largest indoor diving pool in South Texas.     In 2018, Solorio Inc. was awarded Project of the Year for the successful completion of the Bert Ogden Arena.     Purpose: Recognizes outstanding dedication to the Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

    Inspiration: Named after John A. Focht Jr., a distinguished leader who served as Section Past President, ASCE District Director, and Vice President and President of National ASCE. He initiated the concept of promoting members as better citizen engineers.

    The John A. Focht Jr. Citizen Engineer Award, established in 1990 by the Texas Section Board of Directors, honors exceptional dedication to the Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This award pays tribute to the legacy of John A. Focht Jr., a prominent figure who held various leadership roles within ASCE and pioneered the idea of encouraging members to excel as citizen engineers.
